Each young person agreed to record their story to help us bring about real change for young carers in Sheffield and beyond.
We used all three stories as part of a recent presentation to Sheffield’s Clinincal Commissioning Group (CCG), which helped to inspire some exciting developments (including one commissioner saying they would look into the CCG writing identification and support of carers/young carers into their contract specifications, and another commissioner offering to link us to GPs who are working to get a code for young carers onto GP systems).
The feedback we received from attendees was overwhelming, proving that the power of young carers’ voices should never be underestimated.
