Our work

Who we are

Sheffield Young Carers is a registered charity, which has been running since 1997. We offer support to children and young people aged 8-25 who live in Sheffield and are young carers. Being a young carer means they provide care for one or more family members who have disabilities, long-term physical illnesses, and/or mental health problems. They may be providing physical, personal, financial and/or emotional care.

We also offer support to children and young people aged 8-25 who live in Sheffield and are affected by drug and alcohol issues in their family (past or present).

If you would like to refer a young person to our service, please talk to them about the services we provide. With their consent, you can then refer them to our service.

Accessibility

Please find information below about accessibility at Sheffield Young Carers. Please note this statement mainly refers to our office building. Access information about groups and events is provided separately as we use various venues across the city.

We are always looking to improve our access provision and are committed to including all young people and families in our groups and events wherever possible. Please get in touch if you think that someone hoping to come along to a group or event would need anything specific from us that isn’t covered in our statement below.

If you would like any further information, or you have any questions, you can contact us at information@sheffieldyoungcarers.org.uk. If you are already part of our service, speak to your SYC worker and they will find the information for you. We will always try our hardest to address any barriers you might face if you are thinking of getting involved in our service.
