Carers Week is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges unpaid carers face and recognise the contribution they make to their families and communities. This year, the campaign theme is ‘Make Caring Visible and Valued’.
To celebrate Carers Week 2021, we’re joining forces with Sheffield Carers Centre and Sheffield City Trust to launch two amazing offers for carers . The first is a special 7-day membership in June that provides free access to Sheffield City Trust’s gyms, fitness classes and swimming pools for adult carers who are registered with Sheffield Carers Centre. You can find more information on Sheffield Carers Centre’s website here.
The second offer is for young carers (between the ages of 8 and 25) who we’re currently supporting, who will have exclusive access to a free ice-skating session at Ice Sheffield on either Saturday 19th or Saturday 26th of June.
*** If you’re currently being supported by SYC, we’ll be in touch soon with more information about this exciting offer! ***
We also have a host of other events and activities planned for Carers Week, including:
free, interactive, multi-agency training for practitioners in health, education, social care and the voluntary sector, on ‘Understanding Young Carers and Adult Carers Needs in the Context of Covid-19'
an exciting party for all of the young carers we’re currently supporting, to celebrate Carers Week and everything they do to support their families
our joint Do You Care? social media campaign, which will help us identify even more unpaid carers and signpost them to support.
You can also download a list of practical tips and ideas, written by the young carers in our Action Group, to help young carers look after their own health and wellbeing.
