On a cold and wet Thursday in April a group of hardy explorers from Sheffield Young Carers' Family Project set out on an adventure.
Their mission: to spot squirrels, splash in puddles, build dens and cook on a campfire.
What an amazing day we had at the Woodland Discovery Centre! Families bonded and worked so well together, despite the muddy conditions, to create dens that would rival anything Bear Grylls might build.
We were all a bit damp, chilly and smelling of bonfires by the end but everyone had a fantastic time, despite the British spring weather.
Special thanks must go to Ranger Nell for leading such a brilliant expedition but most of all thank you to all the wonderful families who happily threw themselves into the challenge and made the trip a great success.
We hope to return and do it all again soon.
