Last week was an incredible week. Not just for young carers in Sheffield but for young carers all over the UK.
On Wednesday 28 February, Paul Blomfield - the MP for Sheffield Central and our brilliant Patron - asked Prime Minister Theresa May the first question during Prime Minister's Questions: Would she agree to meet the members of our Action Group to hear directly about their experiences and the actions they'd like her to take? And the Prime Minister said yes!!!
You can watch the clip here on Twitter.
Paul's question and Theresa May's response also appeared in The Sheffield Star and on BBC Radio Sheffield, including a fantastic interview with our very own Sara Gowen (SYC's Managing Director) on Howie Pressman's drive time progamme. You can listen back to the interview here at 01:19:18 (although please note that you will need to register on the BBC website first and episodes are only available for 30 days after they're broadcast).
We are hoping that this amazing coverage, let alone the meeting with Theresa May itself, will lead to many more young carers being identified and supported around the UK. We can't thank Paul Blomfield MP and the members of our Action Group enough for all of their hard work. We will update this page as soon as we have a date in the Prime Minister's diary!
