On #PowerOfYouth Day, we present our National Voice campaign!

Today, young people and workers from young carers organisations around the country are meeting to start our collective campaign: for better recognition and support in schools and colleges.

This National Voice Virtual Meet-Up follows an amazing first event in Birmingham in February where 36 young carers and 17 workers came together to identify issues that were important to young carers and to plan a joint campaign for 2020-21. Young people and staff came from Sheffield (co-faciliators), Gloucestershire (co-facilitators), Doncaster, Worcestershire, Birmingham, Sandwell, Bedfordshire and Surrey.

The key campaign aims:

  1. To increase awareness of young carers in education settings

  2. To get better support for young carers in schools and colleges

  3. To ensure more teachers have training about young carers
