On Thursday 26 April, we welcomed two friendly buffaloes into the SYC offices... Not your regular four-legged, grass-grazing buffaloes, but Ian Gregory and Paul Templeton (pictured here with Katie, our fundraiser) from the Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes. 

On a cold and wet Thursday in April, a group of hardy explorers from Sheffield Young Carers’ Family Project set out on an adventure. Their mission: to spot squirrels, splash in puddles, build dens and cook on a campfire.

Over the Easter break, young carers visited Jump Inc trampoline park in Sheffield to bounce, leap, climb and bounce some more – a lot more! All three of our groups (8-12 year-olds from the North, 8-12 year-olds from the South, and our 12+ young carers) had a brilliant time

Last week was an incredible week. Not just for young carers in Sheffield but for young carers from all over the UK.

'Ahoy there! In February half term, members of SYC’s Action Group spent a day on the Ethel Barge. Setting sail from Victoria Quays and cruising through the former industrial heartland of Sheffield towards Tinsley, they took in the sights, helped operate the locks and all took turns to steer the boat – a real highlight and something they will never forget!

Thursday 25 January is Young Carers Awareness Day, a national day of recognition for the UK’s 700,000 young carers. With an estimated 7,300 young carers in Sheffield alone, we'd love you to join our campaign and help us to ‘Give Young Carers a Break’.

From October 2017, we’re excited to be launching some new groups for young adult carers aged 16-25, in partnership with Sheffield Carers Centre and Door 43.

We’re pleased to announce an exciting National Citizens Service (NCS) programme aimed specifically at young carers aged 15-24.

We did it! On Saturday 23rd September we successfully completed the Peak District Challenge to raise vital funds for young carers from all over Sheffield. Eight staff members, trustees and friends of SYC completed one of two testing physical challenges - the Back Before Dark 10k and the 25k Copper Challenge.
